"I own three (3) rental houses, all of which are managed by The Spaven Company. When I first bought and began to rent these properties, I handled everything myself from rebuilding to repairs and upkeep to finding suitable tenants to collecting the rent. As I got older, it became too much as I was a teacher and did motion picture photography on the side. About twenty (20) years ago I turned all of those problems over to George Spaven. I like to think that his company and I grew up together.
Currently most of the paperwork is handled by his office manager, Mrs. Lupe Renteria. When a rental comes on the market, she finds potential renters, checks their credit rating, and contracts their previous landlords to see whether they and the house go well together. I have no complaints about the renters she has found for me. Their circumstances may have changed and the tenants departed, but while they were there, both they and I were satisfied.
Occasionally work needs to be done to repair or upgrade a property. If it is an emergency, she sends someone immediately. With a non-threatening repair, she first determines that it needs to be done, checks with me as to the cost and possibility and then sends either a contractor I know and have used before or someone or some company she knows of. Upon completion of the work, she personally checks to make sure that the task was completed properly and correctly before she signs it off.
I have been very well satisfied with the care that has been taken of my houses. Everything has always been handled politely and professionally. I occasionally go by and check , but at 72 years of age, I am no longer into doing the actual work myself. There is a lot of knowledge necessary to take care of rental properties. With The Spaven Company and Mrs. Renteria I believe I have found it. I recommend them whole heartedly."
